Acquired ISO 9002 and QS-9000 certificates in quality management system for oil tempered wires. Signed a contract with Nanjing Baori wire Products Mfg.Co.,LTD(Nanjing), an affiliated company of Shanghai Baoshan General Iron and Steel, China's largest steel manufacturer, to supply technology related to production and secondary processing of wire for screws and springs. |

ISO 9002 quality management system extended to cover all products, and acquired certificates for all. Quality management system ISO 9002 was also applied to all products except chemicals, and were certified to meet the required standards. |

Acquired certificate for ISO 14001, an environmental management system standard. |

Piano wire produced in Tokyo plant won approval to label that the product satisfies Japan Industrial Standard (JIS). Certificate number is JIS G 3522. Established a joint company Kobe Wire Products (Foshan) Co., Ltd. in City of Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, as production base for cold heading steel wire. |

Established a joint company Jiangyin Sugita Fasten Spring Wire Co., Ltd. (JYSF) in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province, China as production base for oil tempered wire, and took a stake in the entity. Acquired certificates for quality management system ISO/TS 16949:2002. Decided to apply for certificates ISO 9001:2000. |

Completed construction of second annealing plant in Tokyo plant and administrative office in headquarters. Installed cogeneration system at Tokyo plant. |
